The Legend Singers Choral Ensemble was founded in 1940 by the renowned educator, composer and Choral Director, Dr. Kenneth Brown Billups.  This original ensemble consisted of students in the Sumner High School A cappella Choir.  Over the years, the group has carried on the legacy of Dr. Billups by performing music of our foremost African-American Composers and arrangers, indigenous music of the African-American Folk Genre, Spirituals, Art Songs, Jazz and arrangements that depict the African-American idiom in music.
